Recipe For A Goat Milk Bath Bomb:

Bath Bombs remain widely popular, with thousands upon thousands of people searching and ordering them everything month. The trend seems to never end, most likely due to more innovated approaches to design and ingredients. One of the best skin nourishing bath bombs we came across was a goat milk bath bomb.

Ever since bath bombs became popular, it seems people have tried to one up LUSH, one of the first companies that really took them mainstream.

Today, you can find bath bombs in almost any shape and size, fragrance, design, even some with toys and rings inside of them. Kids love bath bombs as they get excited when it starts to fizz and change the water different colors.

Why Goat Milk Is Popular In Bath Products?

According to an article on Healthline, goat milk is an all natural ingredient that contains lactic acid content and essential fatty acids. Lactic acid components have been known for their “gentle hydration and exfoliation properties”.

Additionally the fatty acids help repair skin barriers as well. Sensitive skin, sun damaged skin? No problem for this powerful additive.

Furthermore, goat milk contains vitamins “A, B6, B12 & E. Triglycerides, capric, caprylic and caproic acid helps balance the skins natural pH, according to an article posted on Kate Somerville“.

In fact, in homemade soaps, goat milk serves multiple purposes. You see goat milk contains both saturated and unsaturated fats. So when soap is made with goats milks, it not only can increase lather (which we all love, via it’s saturated fats), but the unsaturated fats help to further moisturize skin.

Due to it’s natural, gentle and nutrient rich composition, goat milk can be used safely on all skin types. These are just a few of the reasons goat milk and goat milk powder have been emerging in skin care lines.

Goat Milk In Bath Bombs:

Likewise, as we see a growing trend in soaps and other bath products, bath bombs have to joined in on the goat milk craze.

So, are goat milk bath bombs the best?

Long story short, it depends. Some swear by goat milk in general. Adding it to home remedies like bath and beauty care, for some, is a no brainer. The skin conditioning components, for many, take the bath experience up a notch.

Truth of the matter is, it’s a total opinion based question. Goat milk bath bombs can be made with either goat milk or goat milk powder. Personally, we don’t notice a huge difference between the two.

Tidbits About Our Goat Milk Bath Bomb Recipe:

Most of our bath bombs have relatively similar ingredients, simply because they work so nicely together. However, for these bath bombs, we changed things up, just a bit.

You may also notice this recipe makes for a slightly heavier bath bomb. This is mostly due to the increase use of clays and heavier oils.

Why is this meaningful?

Well, if you’re looking for a floating, spinning bath bomb, these may not be your first choice.

However, if you simply want to steep in a skin nourishing, moisturizing, sure to please aroma, then this may be just what the “doctor” ordered.

The thing about bath bombs is that there is no right way or wrong way, it’s completely dependent on what the customer is looking for.

For example;

  • Do you want a bath bomb that spins?
  • Floats?
  • That’s colorful?
  • Or one that leaves your skin feeling silky smooth?

Recipe:

Dry Ingredients

  • Sodium Bicarbonate – 2 Cups
  • Citric Acid – 1 Cup
  • Oatmeal Colloidal – 1 oz.
  • Goat milk powder – 3 tsp
  • Milk powder – 2 tsp
  • Kaolin Clay – 1/2 tsp
  • Cream of Tartar – 1/2 tsp

Wet Ingredients:

  • Cocoa Butter – 2 oz.
  • Shea Butter – 2 oz.
  • Polysorbate 80 – 2 oz.
  • Skin Safe Fragrance – Lavender Vanilla 0.7 oz.
  • Spray Bottle with Witch Hazel or water

Equipment

  • Measuring Cups & spoons
  • 2 Mixing Bowls
  • Gloves
  • Eye-Wear
  • Face Mask
  • Spray bottle with Witch Hazel
  • Stainless Steel 3 oz. round bath bomb mold
  • Egg carton foam

Directions For A Goat Milk Bath Bomb:

Step 1:

First, in one mixing bowl bring together all of your dry ingredients. For example, the sodium bicarb, citric acid, oatmeal colloidal, goat milk powder, milk powder, kaolin clay, and cream of tartar.

Additionally make sure to get out any lumps with your hands or optionally, pressing through a sifter.

Step 2:

Secondly, mix together all of you wet ingredients (first melting down the shea butter, & cocoa butter in the microwave to liquefy it). For example, the shea butter, cocoa butter, polysorbate 80 and lavender vanilla skin-safe fragrance.

Optionally, you can also use essential oils in this step. We’d recommend about 20 drops for lavender.

Step 3:

Afterwards, pour your wet ingredients into your dry, begin to mix.

Step 4:

Now it’s time to start getting our mix to the correct consistency. Start with 3-5 sprays of witch hazel. Above all, start slow, as you don’t want the mixture to get to moist, as it can start to expand and crumble once out of the mold.

Step 5:

After every few sprays grab a handful of mixture, and squeeze. Consequently, if it stays together while not sticking to your hand, generally speaking, your mixture is ready to be molded!

Step 6:

Grab one half of the mold and overfill with your mixture.

Step 7:

Grab the other half of the mold and do the same thing.

Step 8:

Pick up both halves and press together tightly for roughly 5 – 10 seconds. Tap the top piece of mold with a wooden spoon. Take the top piece off.

Step 9:

Tap the bottom half of the mold. Turn the mold over in your hand, then place the finished bath bomb on soft egg carton foam.

Step 10:

Place to dry on egg foam or something soft, as the goat milk bath bomb may break or crumble if sat on a hard surface at this time.

Step 11:

Allow to dry 24 – 48 hours in an area of your house with humidity, preferably under 45%
