Many would agree, a pool is a great outdoor activity that is tons of fun for the entire family. However, what do you do if you don’t have a pool. Furthermore, if going to a public pool is not an option in your area. Not to worry, there are still plenty of ways you can have backyard water fun without a pool.
These fun activities for both kids and adults will keep everyone cool during even the hottest times of summer. Here are a few great ideas that you can utilize to have a little water fun in your own backyard, without having a pool.
I. Water Balloons
Water balloons are an inexpensive backyard water activity that doesn’t require a pool. All you need is a pack of balloons and a water hose, and you’re good to go. You can buy more complicated setups that allow you to fill the balloons faster or just use basic balloons and toss them around.
You can get creative with water balloons as well. For example, you can play water balloon baseball or place the water balloons on a trampoline and bounce them around. There are endless options and plenty of ways to have fun with this backyard water classic.

II. Sprinkler
Another great way to have some backyard water fun without a pool, is to simply set up a sprinkler. No childhood is complete without spending a muggy summer afternoon running through the sprinkler, having a good time.
Most households have a sprinkler already on hand for watering plants and lawn. Oftentimes, there usually isn’t the added expense or additional equipment to purchase. Simply set up the sprinkler in an area of a yard where you don’t mind a little extra hydration and footprints.
III. Slip-n-Slide
Just because you don’t have a pool doesn’t mean you can’t have good old-fashioned backyard water fun. A slip n’ slide is a great alternative to a pool if you’re looking for fun ways to cool-off during the summer. Did you know you can buy a slip n’ slide from most major retailers and online. On the other hand, you can just make your own.
All you need is something like a plastic painter’s tarp and a water hose, and you’re all set for some high-speed water sliding fun.

IV. Water Guns
Water guns are another fun activity you can use in your backyard, if you don’t have a pool. There are many different ways to build activities around a water gun, and you aren’t limited to just simply a water-fueled game of tag.
One activity you could set up for kids, is a water gun target range made from plastic Solo cups or plates. This is a fun activity that can be as challenging or as easy as you want, and may just provide hours of fun, water-soaked entertainment.
V. Sponge Toss
Another fun, creative game, that you can fabricate using nothing more than kitchen supplies is a sponge toss. In order to play this fun backyard water game that doesn’t require a pool, all you need to do is simply soak a sponge and then toss it around the same way you would a water balloon.
The added benefit of a sponge is it doesn’t burst, leave little bits of latex all over the yard. This makes it a nice renewable water game that is fun and easy to set up.
These are some of the easiest and most inexpensive activities anyone can do, without a pool. All you need is a couple of friends, a few dollars and a bathing suit. Enjoy your backyard water fun, even without a pool!
